| Joann Gehrke has been creating unique and exciting birthday
cakes for over 35 years. Joann's talents have lead her to the design
and creation of wedding, anniversary, and special occasion cakes, as well
as as amazing cookies, fruit bars, muffins, specialty breads, and most
recently fresh fruit tarts and cheesecakes, for local customers and restaurants.
A visit to CAKES BY JOANN on the SW corner of Bullard and First in Fresno,
CA is a delight to the senses and a step back in time to the days of the
corner bakery. Joann's extensive use of the freshest valley fruits,
and the finest ingredients available, creates the cornerstone of her business.
CAKES BY JOANN is now considered the largest wedding cake specialty shop in California, with the widest selection of cake toppers, wedding glasses, guest books, ring pillows, and invitations. Joann also is able to offer the newest cake decorating techniques to her customers. Joann has been designated a master baker and a master cake decorator, due to her vast experience in the development and decorating of her famous cakes. Her shop currently turns out about 20 wedding cakes and 60 to 80 sheet cakes a weekend. Joann believes that her talents were inspired by her grandmother, who was honored as a baker for Italian royalty in Italy. Her grandmother encouraged Joann to experiment and create elegant and delicious baked goods for her friends and family. In her grandmother's tradition, CAKES BY JOANN is staffed and run by Joann's family and close friends. Also, Giovanna's Biscotti, made from an adaptation of one of her Grandmother's original recipes is available for purchase in her store. |
